Question 1

How high should a pendant light hang above a dining table or kitchen counter?

Accepted Answer

The bottom of a pendant light is usually hung about 75 to 90 cm (30 to 36 inches) above a dining table or kitchen island, so it lights the surface without blocking anyone's view. In Indian homes with standard 10-foot ceilings, most pendants have adjustable wires or chains, so check the maximum drop length in the product details before buying. LedDisplay lists the cable length for each pendant so you can check whether it fits your ceiling height.

Question 2

What is the price range of pendant lights in India?

Accepted Answer

Basic single pendant lights with plastic or simple metal shades usually cost ₹500 to ₹2,000. Designer pendants in glass, brass, rattan, or multi-light cluster styles often cost ₹3,000 to ₹15,000 or more. Prices for the same model can vary between sellers, so comparing listings on LedDisplay can help you find a better deal.

Question 3

Which bulb and colour temperature are best for a pendant light?

Accepted Answer

Most pendant lights sold in India use the standard E27 screw base, so you can fit a regular LED bulb or a decorative filament bulb. For dining areas and living rooms, warm white (2700K to 3000K) creates a cosy look. For kitchen counters or study tables, neutral white (4000K) makes tasks easier to see. Check whether the pendant includes a bulb, because many models are sold without one.

Question 4

Can pendant lights be installed on a false ceiling?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but lightweight pendants can usually be fixed to the false ceiling frame with proper anchors. Heavy glass, metal, or multi-light pendants should be hung from a hook or rod fixed into the concrete slab above. It is best to plan the electrical point and support before the false ceiling is closed. Always have a licensed electrician do the installation to make sure the wiring is safe.
